Norton Juster at Galloway

We were honored to host Norton Juster, author of The Phantom Tollbooth, at Galloway today. He spoke to all of Ms. Starkman's sixth graders. He graciously answered many questions and enjoyed hearing their questions and comments about the book. He was accompanied by Leonard Marcus, co-author of The Annotated Phantom Tollbooth

CHERUB Series Arrives from England

Thanks to Mr. Dyer, the Galloway Library now has all the books in the CHERUB series. These are spy books that fans of the Alex Rider books are also reading. Only 4 of them have been published in the United States but there are 12 in the series in England. Mr. Dyer went home to England in September and bought us the complete set. Thanks Mr. Dyer!

DEAR in the Library

All the 5th and 6th graders had a relaxing DEAR time in the library today. Thanks teachers for bringing them in!

This is not staged

Mr. Mathis noticed this scene in the library last week. At one table students were using every possible reading format to study—laptops, a Kindle, an iPhone, and an old-fashioned book. This week we will start circulating our set of 20 iPads to teachers so we will have one more format for reading and learning. iPads will also be available for students to use in the library when they are not in use by teachers.
